汉语语境:
神宗时期（1067－1085 年在位）是北宋的转折期，神宗锐意变法，“以律不足以周事情，凡律所不载者，一断以敕”，把原来的律、令、格、式的法典体系改为敕、令、格、式的法典体系，并对它们的含义及关系作了区分解释。从此以后宋代的法典体系就开始和唐以来一直沿用的律令格式的法典体系开始彻底分离，法律编纂形式均是敕、令、格、式四大部分进行。
英语语境:
The reign of Shenzong was the turning point of Northern Song. He made aggressive changes to Song's law, “Lv (law)'s coverage is limited, and things not covered by law shall be decided by Chi (emperor's order)”. The original legal system of Lv Ling Ge Shi was changed to Chi Ling Ge Shi, and respective explanation was made of their meaning and relation. After that, Song's legal system detached that inherited from Tang Dynasty and Song's law was compiled in the form of Chi Ling Ge Shi.
