Category B is one of the categories of family mediation in Japan. Category B events include: (1) the marital cohabitation, the marital assistance, the apportionment of marriage cost, the allocation of marital property between a couple in the event of a break-up, the disposition on the change of the administrator of marital property, the allocation of jointly-owned property, and the arrangements in inheritance of designated sacrificial property; (2) events that are related to the relationships between parents and children and between relatives, such as the appointment and change of the person with parental authority, the appointment and change of the children's guardian, and the request for maintenance; (3) events that are relevant to the support, such as the request for support, the appointment of the obligor with responsibility of support, the determination of the sequence of support, and the request for increasing maintenance; and (4) events that are relevant to inheritance, such as the division of heritage, the disinheritance and cancellation of the presumptive heir(s).
