The endogamy system refers to the marriage adopted in the same clans. During the Spring and Autumn Periods, the noble clans of the Song Kingdom continue to follow the customs of the in-clan marital system even the subjects are not within the five generations. Meanwhile, the highest monarchy class has tended to belittle and even replace it by the out-of-clan marital system at last. In contrast, it is confirmed by the historical documents that the in-clan marriage is rather popular in the ministerial class, and out-of-clan marriage is hardly seen.
