商业本票，又称一般本票或者商业期票，是企业为筹措短期资金，由企业以自己的信用担保发行的一种本票，它与银行本票相对而言。我国只承认银行本票，不承认其它任何企业签发的商业本票。这种对本票出票人的严格限制，严重束缚了本票融资功能的发挥。

英语语境:

Compared with bank promissory notes, commercial paper, also known as promissory notes or commercial notes, is issued by enterprises in their own credit secured by a promissory note in order to raise short-term funding. China only recognize promissory note issued by banks, but not any other promissory note issued by any enterprise. Such restrictions on promissory notes'bearer have seriously hindered the financing functions of the promissory note.
