The phenomenon of left-behind children in rural is accompanied by the “rural migrant economy”. Due to the long separation from their parents and the loss of getting direct education and care from their parents, these stay-at-home children face many risks and problems of growth. From the perspectives of sociology and social psychology, sociologists explore the influence of lessened family functions on children's early stage socialization caused by the absent role of their parent on the basis of the theoretical analysis of important relationships among family socialization and personality as well as physical and mental growth of children.
