public opinion

For judicial cases in contemporary China, the public opinion shows a pattern of pluralism. Traditional media, online media and intelligentsia constitute a three-pole mode of public opinion. Public opinion plays a benign role in the judicial process, but also poses potential dangers to the judicial judgment. With correct treatment, public opinion will not affect the authority of the judiciary;on the contrary, it can promote the establishment of judicial authority.

social opinion

Social opinion is definitely termed as public opinion from etymology. The category gained the exact meaning in the 18th century and was a critical activity of the rational public on public affairs and public power in the public sphere. With the invasion of the commercial market economy, its public function has undergone a structural change and has become a pure profitable and political instrument.

social climate of opinion

At one time homosexuality was considered a mental disorder. Due in part to social pressure and public protests, in 1973 the American Psychiatric Association voted to remove homosexuality from the manual; the vote was fairly close. The change influenced social legislation and cultural norms. The point is that this change was based on a vote of the opinions of psychiatrists rather than on scientific research. This shows the extent to which the definition of "disorder" can depend on the social climate of opinion.
