作为一种认知事物的思维程序，本质主义用以认知一般性的道理并没有错，它的错误仅仅在于用以认知个别事物。用本质主义认知个别事物，必然遗漏那些跟特定本质属性缺乏逻辑关联的属性，从而使个别事物的整体无法得到认知。个别性和本质主义之间的这种矛盾是不可克服的，解决问题的办法只能是：对个别事物采取一种非逻辑推导的认知方式。

The mistake of essentialism, as a thinking procedure of knowing things, does not lie in knowing general principles but in knowing individual things. To know an individual thing with essentialism must result in omitting the attributes which are not related logically to the essence, so that any individual thing as a whole cannot be known. The contradiction between individuality and essentialism is not solvable, so we ought to adopt a cognition with a non-logical thinking method to know individual things.
