A Discourse Upon The Duality of The Western Marriage and Family System The author combines the social structuration theory and Freud' s personality theory together, and, by the angles of the coexisting social and biological properties of the marriage and family system , he describes the different patterns of Western marriage and family systems while showing us that all the different existing patterns are actually due to the structure balancing while those coexisting properties demand. Furthermore , he acclaims that the development of the Western marriage and family system proves that the demand of stability in this system is only temporary and the flexible structure balancing is finally the true demand of those coexisting properties.
