A taboo word is the consequence of human being's reverence of mana. Such a reverence later developed into that of human beings. Euphemism exists because of the existence of taboo words. To use this phrase instead of that or avoid directly using a taboo word is to flatter God or man, thus to be free from punishment of mana or contempt of other people.
