汉语语境:

平安时代与中国交流频繁，江户时代闭关锁国，明治维新时代日本认识到西方的发达，从而打开国门，走向世界并开始吸收西方文化。英语外来语在这一时期大量引进。开始了欧化进程。从此，汉字在日本的命运开始发生了变化，对汉字进行改革的呼声不断，包括：罗马字派倡导用罗马字书写日语，代替难懂的汉字；新文字派认为日本应按照音韵方向，发展自己新的文字。
