清代太医院还有“征选制度”和“药品管理制度”两种与诊疗活动密切相关的制度。当太医院医官为皇帝、后妃等核心皇室成员诊治疾病却不能起效时，清廷就可以启动“征选制度”，由皇帝下旨从各地征选医术高超的人员进宫请脉。这一制度进一步保证皇帝、后妃等享有当时最为可靠的医疗保障。这些从民间征选的人员为皇帝、后妃治愈疾病后，大多能得到皇帝较为丰厚的恩赏。但需要注意的是，这些“民间医生”并不隶属于太医院，并非以太医院医官的身份进宫清脉。
