关于水族水字水书的起源，学界见仁见智。目前水族社会发现的最早水书版本为明代的《泐金·纪日卷》残本，实物为明代水书墓碑；《旧唐书》、《新唐书》等历史文献记载水族最早形成于唐代广西环江、宜州地区。根据传世史料和水书水字文物双重论证，提出水族水字水书的最早起源年代不早于唐代的观点。
英语语境:
There are varied views about the origin time of the Shui written scripts and the books about them. At present, the oldest version of such books found in the Shui community is the incompleted copy of Le Jin Ji Ri Juan and the gravestone carved with Shui scripts from the Ming Dynasty. According to some historical documents such as Former Records of the Tang Dynasty and New Records of the Tang Dynasty, the formation of the Shui can be traced to the Tang Dynasty in the regions of Huanjiang and Yizhou of the present Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Based on some historical documents and relics of Shui scripts and books, the paper comes to the conclusion that the origin time the Shui scripts and books is not earlier than the Tang Dynasty.
