With the accumulation of China's media industry increasing, how to evaluate the overall strength of Chinese media has become an important issue. We must make clear both the macro and micro development patterns of Chinese media so as to provide theorectical foundation for making a scientific policy to push forward the development of media industry. Therefore, the construction of a comprehensive and dynamic China Media Development Index (CMDI) has become a new perspective of media economy studies.
