Results and comprehensive strength of different countries in swimming were evaluated with media assessment and points statistics based on the final results of swimming competition at the Atlanta Olympic Games. Statistics showed that on the whole the distribution of swimming medals and scores at Atlanta was wide, but the competitive situation was unbalanced featured by a pyramid structure of four distinctive grades according to each nation's comprehensive strength. Proposals were then put forward for the national swimming management organization to take proper strategies.
