In 1932 when Japan formed the Puppet Manchuria Regime in Northeast China, a large number of writers in Northeast China fled their homes and came to stay in North China, Shanghai, and other places. They continued to engage in literary writing and they often wrote about their homeland or native places. The study of "the Special Edtion of Literature and Art in North China" of the Periodical Youth Culture investigates imaginations of the homeland in the works by writers from Northeast China which is absent in the studies of modern Chinese literature taking an important role.
