尽管女性主义翻译理论近年来逐渐成为中国译界讨论的热点之一，鉴于中国的女性主义发展背景与现状，不少中国学者认为，女性主义翻译是西方女性主义激进的翻译观，不适合在中国语境下发展。
英语语境:
Despite its increasing popularity in the domestic translation discussion, for most scholars in China, feminist translation remains as a radical western translation discourse which is hardly suitable to be studied in the Chinese context, given that there isn't a feminist background in China similar to that in the West.
