英语语境:

The phrase "cut to" comes from Hollywood movies. The most wonderful clips in many movies are chasing scenes. Whether it is a cowboy hero riding a horse and chasing after bad guys, or it is the police catching the escaped criminal, they are both quite exciting, which is regarded as an important part of the film. So, when the director says "cut to the chase", it means cut the camera to the chasing scenes.
