层累标记制又称等级标记制，是常用的的层次分明的标记制度，自《杜威十进分类法》首创以来得到广泛应用。它常用一位号码表示一个大类，再加一位号码表示其下位类(二级类)，以号码的层层累加表示类目的层层划分。
英语语境:
Hierarchical notation is also called grade notion system. It is a commonly used notion system featurig clear structure. Ever since the invention of Dewey decimal system, it is widely adopted. Usually a number is used to represent a general category, with another number standing for the subordinate level (the second level).
