In recent years, as the widening of doctoral education scale in our country, how to improve the quality assessment of doctoral degree programs with the purpose of ensuring and improving the quality of doctoral degree programs becomes the new focus. This essay summarized the development of the Quality Assessment of Doctoral Degree Programs in the U.S.. After studying the Quality Assessment of Doctoral Degree Programs in the U.S.(2006) in three dimensions: assessment agents, indicator system and target of assessment, the author discovered that the quality assessment system which focused on doctoral degree programs in America werecharacterized by the multi-agent collaboration pattern, the multi-level indicators which reflected hierarchical demand of teachers and students in doctoral degree programs and high individualization of the assessment. In the end, the author proposed to learn from the American model and offered some suggestions on the construction and improvement of doctoral degree programs assessment in China.
