The self study examination has cultivated a large quantity of talents with the specialty knowledge and skills and contributed to the higher educational enterprise of China grearly. But because of the expanded recruit of the universities in recent years, the rising of the private colleges, on-line education and long-distance education, the self study examination is facing plight of the depauperate students. The way out of developing the self study examination is to develop the self study examination in the rural areas, strengthen the nonformal education and lower the difficulty of the examination, etc.
