Tao Xingzhi's theory on life education which took shape in Nanjing Xiaozhuang Normal School was not discarded when the school shut up. On the contrary, taking Shanghai as the base for a time, Tao Xingzhi continued exposing the current social maladies, reexamined his theory on life education, advocated and practised "science to the masses", established the Working and Studying Group of Baoshan and Shanghai, set up a student-teacher's system, and devoted himself to the national calamity education. Not only did he deepen his theory on life education, but also in practice he promoted the spread of his theory and broadened the influence of new education on the people in Shanghai and throughout the whole country.
