The paper analyses the theories of the nature of education whether in China or other lands, in ancient times or today and reexamines the current educational trend of thought of humanism, or the new idea of education, and the idea that education should be without aim, without curriculum and without teaching. The paper believes that it is advisable to direct the educational reform on the basis of studying theory of constructivism, but the author rejects the view that the new idea of education is the only way of educational reform.
