As a compensatory policy to the disadvantage groups, the affirmative action plays a very special role in the educational equity discussion in America. The current study argues that the key factors influencing individual's opinion towards the affirmative action is not their own interests or the different institutions they belong to, but the different policy goals and value system among them. It is different belief system that causes different value system, which further influences the creation and development of affirmative action. Those who advocate for and those who want to abandon the affirmative action are two main liaisons along the development of affirmative action.
