翁文灏先生是一位著名的地质学家，是我国地质事业的先驱者和奠基人之一。他对于地质教育事业非常关心。1917年他作为北大10人小组成员之一参加了理科课程的修订工作，1920、1925、1929、1930年他曾在北大地质学系任教，先后讲授过高等岩石学、中国地质构造。1932～1936年被聘为北大名誉教授。他关心学生的学术活动。1916～1938年期间，作为地质调查所和中国地质学会的一位负责人，他曾对北大地质学系的工作给予过很多支持。

Dr. Wong Wenhao was a famous geologist as well as one of the pioneers and founders of the geological cause of China. He was concerned about the geological education very much. Being a member of ten-man lead group or Peking University, he took part in revising the teaching program of science departments in 1917. Dr. Wong was invited to hold the Geology professor ship of Peking University in 1920, 1925, 1929, 1930 respectively. He taught Advanced Petrology and Geotectonique of China. Dr. Wong was invited to be a honorary professor of Peking University in 1932--1936. He took great care of the academic activities of students in the university. As one of the members in charge of the Geological Survey or China in 1916--1938, he gave much support to the work of the Geology Department or Peking University.
