英语语境:

The Chinese Confucian culture considers that males are more valuable than females and those illiterate females are virtuous. This is the important social historical background when the Christian Universities come into China. The inner motive of those missionaries establishing female universities in China is to train more female missionaries so that they can spread the Gospel widely. Nevertheless, we can not deny that Christian Universities have initially developed Chinese female higher education. The function of Chinese Christian Female Universities has changed from missionary institution to education institution.
