启哑初阶、启哑中阶和高阶过程中广泛使用手语。中国手语广义上指中国聋人使用的手语，可分为手势语和手指语。研究在借鉴以往研究成果的基础上，进一步梳理了中国手势语、手指语在历史上的发展情况：中国手语是在漫长的历史过程中逐渐孕育和发展的；手势语起源较早，经历了古代萌芽、近现代各地不统一、当代日臻完善与统一的三个主要阶段；手指语源自西方，通过引进与学习、在实践中逐步实现中国化；“精密化”和“标准化”是中国手语发展的两大基本任务。
英语语境:
The sign language is widely used in the begining, intermediate and advanced education of the mute. The researcher attempts to explore the historical development of Chinese sign language (CSL). It is mainly document-based. CSL used by the Chinese deaf can be divided into sign language and finger language. Chinese sign language has a longer history of development than finger language. CSL has witnessed three phases of development: the ancient embryotic, the premodern and modern. Chinese finger language is introduced from the West, and has been gradually localized. Precision and standardization are the two major tasks confronting CSL.
