The Four-Beginnings is an important concept in the traditional study of the Book of Songs. The earliest and the most representative theory of the "Four-Beginnings" is seen in the Records of the Grand Historian. And the origin and basis of the theory could be found out in the ritual songs of the Zhou Dynasty and the Book of Songs compiled by Confucius. It is an inherited and incessant process that the political ideas were successively reflected in the ritual songs of the Zhou dynasty, Confucian explanations of the Book of Songs and the conclusions and improvements made in the study of Confucian classics in the Han dynasty.
