From the point of view of historical development, this change has gone through three stages as academic rank, academic title, and academic position management. This process has not only witnessed the change from “faculty management“ to “work management“, but also the change from “teacher's own position-oriented logic“ to “organization's efficiency-oriented logic“. The faculty academic position management focuses on position, which in essence, is to improve the efficiency of the organization. Therefore, during the process of improving the efficiency of the organization, the academic position management should fully reflect the particularity of faculty management in colleges and universities, follow the inner logic of academic development, build an operational mechanism which could integrate position and duty with benefit, and promote the academic process and development.
