"打" is widely used in modern and contemporary Chinese, but few scholars have studied the mechanism and process of its semantic generalization. Historically, "打" breaks through the typical verb-object combination on the basis of its semantic features, and gives rise to the sense-do or produced in the verb result or verb intent combinations. Then it can be combined with many kinds of object and becomes semantically generalized.
